Every fall, approximately 1.5 million high school juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT, but only about 16,000—roughly 1%—receive National Merit Scholarship recognition. For schools with National Merit Scholars, Semifinalists, Commended Students, or Finalists, this achievement represents not just individual academic excellence but a reflection of the school’s educational quality, college preparation rigor, and commitment to academic achievement.
